SG Heritage Shophouse Tingkat
Carrier Set
The Shophouse is one of Singapore’s most distinctive forms of architecture. Constructed majority between the 1840s and the 1960s, these shophouses are significant local icons of Singapore’s architectural heritage, and more importantly as part of the island’s social history and development. Its uniqueness of their distinctive decor, tiles, and colors in each home tell such a unique story. Shophouse also called ‘Baba House’. They are they house of Peranakan; a blend result of between Chinese immigrants and Peninsular Malaya. Tingkat carrier (below, left) is one of the Peranakan product, which is a stainless steel carrier for food, and ‘Tingkat’ means floor or storey in Malay.
SG Heritage Shophouse Tingkat was a project designed in the celebration of Singapore 50th Anniversary. It has won an SG50 design competition and was featured in The local Newspaper The Straits Times, also named as one of the 20 Must-Have Unique Singapore Souvenirs that captures Singapore’s blend of heritage, cultures, and essence by Visit Singapore.com and Naiise.

SG Heritage Shophouse Tingkat, a carrier set, designed in 3 layers of space stacked altogether. The design followed the structure of Shophouses, which it has at least 2 stores. The 1st floor usually use for family business, 2nd floor is the living space for family members, and the 3rd floor will be the store room.
STRAP FEATURE
To strap together all three boxes so it’s easy to carry around, opened by unlocking both small cache on either side of the handle.
TARGET MARKET AND MARKETING PLAN
Locals - Singaporean would like to have 1 set of historical treasure of their own nation. Tourist - Who is traveling in Singapore would like to bring a piece of historical memento back to their hometown.
